If you’ve been dreaming of a life in the Great White North, Santa Claus might have just come early. December 2025 has officially become the most active month for Canada’s Express Entry system this year. In a whirlwind of activity, the Canadian government's Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has been issuing Invitations to Apply (ITAs) like confetti. Canada’s immigration system has just released another major Express Entry draw, and this one is making headlines around the world! Typically, things slow down during the holiday season, but 2025 is an exception. Canada is racing to meet its immigration targets before the end of the year. With over 111,000 invitations sent out so far this year, the government is making a final push to attract skilled workers in sectors that need support, such as healthcare and trade.
On December 17, 2025, IRCC invited a whopping 6,000 candidates under a special French language proficiency category, one of the largest draws of the year! To qualify, candidates needed a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of at least 399, which is lower than many previous draws, making the opportunity even more exciting for candidates with strong language skills. This score of 399 is somewhat interesting because it shows that Canada is actively welcoming French-speaking skilled workers, reflecting the country’s bilingual identity and labour needs.
Canada’s Express Entry system now leans more into category-based draws, choosing candidates with specific skills, languages, or work experience, rather than the old one-size-fits-all system. This gives applicants more chances if they fit key labour market needs. If you are in the Express Entry pool as a French language learner, this is big news! More candidates are being invited thanks to targeted draws, lower CRS thresholds in some categories, and Canada’s ongoing need for skilled workers. If you can speak French, you basically have a "Golden Ticket" to Canada right now.
Thus, update your language scores; even a small boost in English or French could put you over the line. Check your category. Are you in healthcare? Do you speak French? These targeted draws are where the lowest scores are happening. Stay ready! With draws happening almost every day this week, the next one could be yours.
The "December Sprint" has proven that the Canadian dream is far from over. With a large number of invitations and a lower CRS cut-off in this French-focused round, the trend shows that scores are dropping and invitation numbers are increasing. Canada is effectively rolling out the red carpet to close out 2025. If you haven't entered the pool yet, there has rarely been a more "interesting" time to jump in. Whether you’re planning to apply soon or still building your profile, this draw signals strong momentum in Canada’s immigration plans as we head into 2026!
