French Speakers Win Big Again in Canada’s Latest Express Entry Draw

Canada’s latest Express Entry draw sends a clear message: the country is committed to attracting skilled immigrants and providing more opportunities for candidates with in-demand skills.

French speakers win big again!!!

Express Entry is a points-based system used to manage applications for permanent residency in Canada. Candidates are ranked based on factors such as age, education, language proficiency, and work experience. Those with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency. The latest updates to Canada’s Express Entry system show that 2026 is all about having specific skills. If you have been following the points closely, the last few days have been full of surprises. Canada is moving away from general invitations and now selects people who meet specific needs, such as those who speak French or already have a job offer from a province.

Canada’s immigration system began in February 2026 with a historic round of Invitations to Apply (ITAs) under the Express Entry system. On 6 February 2026, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) conducted Express Entry Draw #394, issuing 8,500 ITAs to candidates in the French-language proficiency category. This was the largest category-based draw in Express Entry history, reflecting the Canadian government’s significant emphasis on attracting skilled French-speaking workers from around the world. To be eligible in this round, candidates needed a minimum Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score of 400 and had to submit their profile before 11:11 UTC on 3 February 2026.

This February draw isn’t the only one that has taken place in recent weeks. Just a few days earlier, on February 3, 2026, Canada held a draw for candidates nominated by provinces. In that round, 423 invitations were issued, and the CRS cut-off was high (749 points) because provincial nominations automatically add 600 points to a candidate’s score. So far, there have been two Express Entry draws in 2026, issuing a total of 8,574 invitations to apply. The draws are expected to continue, with predictions suggesting the next draw will take place on February 17, 2026, targeting the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP).

Canada’s latest Express Entry draw sends a clear message: the country is committed to attracting skilled immigrants and providing more opportunities for candidates with in-demand skills, especially French-language proficiency. With a record number of invitations and a moderate CRS requirement, many hopeful applicants now have renewed confidence in their chances. As Canada continues to adjust its selection strategies, staying prepared and informed may be the key to turning the dream of permanent residence into reality.
